About Ph.D. Examination (Entrance Examination and Interview)

The Vel Tech Ph.D. Admission Process for Summer Session 2026–2027 (Phase II)

The Vel Tech Ph.D. Admission Process for Summer Session 2026–2027 (Phase II) is conducted on 11.07.2026 intended for candidates aspiring to pursue Ph.D. programmes in both Full-time and Part-time modes across various disciplines.

Stage 1: Ph.D. Entrance Examination (Forenoon Session)

The Ph.D. Entrance Examination is scheduled to be conducted through physical mode in the computer laboratory for all applicants, irrespective of their department / specialization.

The examination is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) of 1-hour duration consisting of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs). Each correct answer carries one mark, and there is no negative marking for incorrect responses.

The entrance examination comprises a total of 50 MCQs, distributed as follows:

Research Methodology – 25 Questions
Technical / Subject Specific – 25 Questions

The total weightage for the entrance examination is 100 marks.

Candidates belonging to OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / SC / ST categories are eligible for a 5% relaxation in marks as per UGC norms.

Candidates qualified in GATE / NET / SLET / M.Phil. are exempted from appearing for the Ph.D. Entrance Examination as per UGC regulations.

Stage 2: Ph.D. Interview (Afternoon Session)

Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks in the entrance examination to qualify for the Ph.D. Interview.

The Ph.D. Interview is scheduled through physical mode in the respective departments.

Candidates are required to prepare a PowerPoint Presentation (PPT) and present their proposed research work before the Department Research Committee (DRC) members.

The interview carries a total weightage of 100 marks.
